What to send before your product video: a simple checklist
Getting a product video made? Exactly what to send — product photos, logo, brief, prices and offer — plus how to take usable photos on your phone.
Quick answer: send three to six clear photos of your product from different angles, your logo, the one message you want the video to get across, your price or offer, where the video will be posted, and your deadline. Phone photos taken in daylight against a plain background usually work well. You'll approve the script before any video is made.
A great product video starts with great ingredients. The clearer the photos and the brief, the better the video, and the fewer revisions you'll need. Here's exactly what to send.
Your product photos
Good photos matter more than an expensive camera. A recent smartphone is fine.
- Three to six photos from different angles: front, back, side and top.
- Close-ups of the details that make it special: texture, stitching, label, finish.
- Daylight. Stand near a window, or shoot outside in shade. Avoid harsh midday sun.
- A plain background. A white wall, a bedsheet or a clean table.
- True colours. No heavy filters or beauty modes.
- Full size. Send the original files, not screenshots. On WhatsApp, send them "as document" so they aren't compressed.
- Something for scale, if size matters: a hand holding the bag, a phone beside the perfume.
Your brand basics
- Your logo, ideally as a PNG with a transparent background.
- Your brand colours and fonts, if you have them.
- Your social handles and your WhatsApp number or order link.
- Any words you always use — a slogan, or a way you describe your products.
The brief, in six questions
- Who is it for? "Young professional women in Lagos" says more than "everyone".
- What's the one message? New arrival, a discount, better quality, fast delivery — pick one.
- What's the offer? The price, a bundle or a deadline, if there is one.
- Where will it be posted? Instagram Reels, TikTok, WhatsApp Status, or paid ads.
- What should viewers do next? Send a message, visit your page, place an order.
- When do you need it? Tell us about any launch date, event or sale.
You can answer these on our brief form in a few minutes.
Rights and permissions
- Only send photos you own, or have permission to use.
- People in your photos must be happy for them to appear in an advert.
- Don't send copyrighted music — we use properly licensed music.
- Check your claims. If you say "original" or "lasts 24 hours", make sure you can back it up.
What happens next
At Boltreel, you'll get a short script and plan to approve before anything is made, so there are no surprises. Then we make the video, send you a preview, and deliver the final files in the formats you need, with revision rounds included. Most Product Motion videos are ready in about 3 business days, and Product Spotlights in about 5.

If you've got your photos, you're most of the way there. Start your brief, or check prices and turnaround times first.
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK
- Can you make a product video without a photoshoot?
- Yes. For Product Motion and Product Spotlight videos, clear photos of your product are enough — no studio or shoot needed.
- What if my product photos aren't good enough?
- We'll tell you which ones to retake and how. Phone photos taken in daylight against a plain background usually work well.
- Do I need to write a script?
- No. Send the brief and we'll write the script, then send it to you to approve before we make the video.
